Little Miss Bianca, out for a run. She looks like she purposely stopped to pose for me. Isn’t she sweet?
Nero, up close and personal. haha! He climbed right up on my lap and peered into the camera. Not the best photo of him today, but definitely the most unique.
I worried a little about what to do with Gina once we got her home. Being a fur chewer, I was so scared the change in homes would stress her out more. She has made it so easy on me. The first day here, I opened her cage to feed her and she literally jumped straight out and into my arms. I was a little shocked, but delighted! Now each time I open her cage, I am prepared for her. She fully expects to go for a run each and every time I enter the chin room. And, as you can see from the photo, she is not the least bit afraid of us. She crawls all over us without a second thought while out for her runs.
I have been researching fur chewing. I want to try to do everything right (if that’s possible?). In my research, they say to hold them & give them attention ….. but not too much – check! They say to change their toys around and add new toys daily to prevent boredom – check! (Did you know that they compare fur chewing to nail biting. Being a nail biter myself, I have somewhat of an understanding!) Give them the biggest cage possible – working on it. Provide a proper diet and adequate supply of hay – check! Allow a quiet, non stressful environment for sleeping times – check! So far, so good. I do believe she has chewed more since arriving here. The above photo shows how she looks now. She seems to only chew that left side. But, they also say it takes several weeks to see a difference in their coat once they stop chewing. So, only time will tell. I am definitely open to suggestions from experienced owners with chinnies who have been fur chewers.
Lilly is still adjusting to her new home. Today was the first day she has taken a treat from my hand. So, we are making progress. But, she is not quite trusting enough to come out to me, yet. Hopefully, she will be ready in a day or two.
As for Luigi, he is young and quick. Much too quick to catch a photo when he was out for his run. All I got were blurs as he ran past. Maybe next time. haha!
